How do I Know if my Carpet is Clean or Not?
Your carpet looks clean…but is it? For homeowners all over Kirkland, this is the million dollar question! Perhaps you recently purchased your home and you’re not sure if the carpet has been recently and professionally cleaned or even properly maintained. On the other hand, maybe you’ve noticed a not-so-great smell in your house and you’re not sure if its source is your carpet. Maybe you are wondering if your vacuuming alone is truly getting your floors as clean as you’d like for them to be. You may be in need of professional carpet cleaning, but how can you tell? It’s not impossible to know. We have the answers right here!
#1 Smell it. No, really- bend down and smell your carpets! Even if they look clean, a big sniff is a more accurate test. This is particularly true if you have pets and you are worried they’ve had an accident or two that’s leaving bacteria and acid behind.
#2 Scrub a small section. You can also test a small section of your carpet to see if it’s actually clean. Simply grab a washcloth and a little warm water. Be sure to choose a high-traffic area. Lightly scrub a small spot, then check both your washcloth and the carpet. If your washcloth is darker and the carpet is lighter as a result of your efforts, it is a red flag that there’s hidden dirt and grime in your carpet fibers.
#3 Think back to how you’ve been feeling lately. If your allergies have been acting up, there’s a chance it’s from the allergens in your carpet and not outside. It’s possible that there is a fair amount of dust build-up underneath your feet. This can contribute to a variety of respiratory issues, and can be more than just uncomfortable for someone with an underlying medical condition like Asthma. Be sure your carpet gets cleaned right away if this describes you or anyone in your family!
#4 You can’t think of the last time your carpets were professionally cleaned. It’s all about what the calendar says! Experts recommend having your carpet professionally cleaned at least every 12 to 18 months. You also want to use a regular vacuum cleaner at least once a week for surface-level cleaning. While this is important, you won’t produce a truly clean carpet from your vacuum, not the way a professional deep cleaning can provide.
Your home’s carpets can be hiding dirt, mold, bacteria, and allergens. If not cleaned regularly and well enough, they can collect dead skin cells, dust mites, and pet hair– just to mention a few. If you truly want to know for sure your floors are clean, you want the professional carpet cleaning services offered by Green Steam Carpet Cleaners. A clean carpet is only a phone call away!
